During the rounding of sheet-metal blanks, problems have hitherto arisen in the rounding apparatus (2) because the leading edge of the rounded sheet-metal blanks struck against a stationary stop at the end (48) of a slit (24) between an inner shell (20) and an outer shell (22), so that the sheet-metal blank rebounded and did not have a defined starting position for further conveying. In order to overcome this problem, the stop is constructed in the form of a pivotally movable damping flap (50) on which there is formed a catch hook (54) which closes the slit (24) at its end (48). Compression springs (70) are disposed between the damping flap (50) and the inner shell (20). Under the impact of the sheet-metal blank, the catch hook (54) yields and urges the damping flat (50) about the pivot axis (52) pressing its front portion (50') into the slit (24) as a result of which the sheet-metal blank is temporarily clamped against the outer shell (22). The inner shell 13 is made integral and provided with inner opposing longitudinal grooves 20 and 21, in which the corresponding flanges of the T-shaped element 22 are mounted for fastening the inner shell 13 (Fig. 3). There is a distance between the upper guide casing 16 and the lower receiving casing 17 on both longitudinal sides. As a consequence, grooves 23 are provided, and the inner shell 13 is provided with recesses 24, so that the cams 25 of the transport chain (not shown) can grip the fixed shells on both longitudinal sides in order to feed them into the guide 3. The height of the groove 15 decreases from the inlet 26 to the end 27. Thus, for any heights X and Y indicated in FIG. 3, the groove 15 is valid. The slot 15, located in front of the end 27, forms part of the outside of the outer casing 14, and inside the valve 28 replaces part of the inner cover 13 at this point. The curvature around the circumference of the valve 28 is a continuation of the curvature of the inner cover 13 until the end 27 of the groove 15. The design and principle of operation of the valve 28 are shown in FIGS. 3 and 4. The valve 28 extends along the entire length of the circular tool 12 and the establishment of a damped movement and rotation around the axis 29. At the circumferential ring adjacent to the end 27 of the groove 15, the valve 28 is fitted with a hook 30 serving as an end stop for the sheet blank 8. For a rotatable mounting of the valve 28 on the inner shell 13 serves a pair of cantilevers 31, which are fixed to the end sides of the inner sheath 13 by means (not shown) of screws that are screwed into the threaded holes 32. Each console 31 has a socket 33, in which The needle bearing 34 is rotatably mounted with a bolt 35 fitted at the opposite end of the socket 33 with the flats 36 so that it can be flush into the opening 37 of the valve 28. Therefore, the axis of rotation 29 is parallel to the longitudinal axis of the circular tool 11. The damping of this rotational movement is carried out by means of pressure springs 38 in space 39, which on the one hand rests on the inner sheath 12, and on the other hand on the vertical side wall of the valve 28. The position of the axis of rotation 29 the valve 28 is selected so that when the hook 30 is moved in the clockwise direction (FIG. 4) around the axis of rotation 29, the portion 40 of the valve 28 can move against the force of the spring 38 in the direction of the outer shell 14, i.e. in slot 15, which serves the purpose described below. The proposed bending machine operates as follows. The sheet blanks 8 are fed by the fixture 7 into the gap between the rollers 10 and 11 and hence into the circular tool 12, at the end of which the sheet blanks 8 hit the hook 30, as a result of which the valve 28 moves against the spring force 3 around the axis of rotation 29 in the direction clockwise, so that the sheet blanks 8 are pressed in the inner side of the outer casing 13. Thus, the sheet blanks 8 are kept for about 6 ms and therefore they do not rebound. After 6 ms, the valve 28 returns to its original position under the action of the springs 38 so that the shells can be gripped in a certain position by the cams 25 of the transport chain. Thus, in tool 11, the sheet blanks 8 are damped in the final position in order to smoothly curb the shells at high speed (about 5 m / s) and prevent them from bouncing off the end stop (hook 30). This is achieved due to the fact that the energy of impact of the sheet blank on the hook 30 is used to effect the tilting movement of the valve 28 around the axis of rotation 29. In this case, the impact energy is partially absorbed by the springs 38, and the remaining energy causes the tilting action of the valve 28, which finally causes the sheet blank 8 to be clamped between the outer casing 13 and the valve part 40. As a result of the subsequent return of the valve 28 to the initial position by means of the springs 38, the shell is released and transported further.
